Tomer Sharon is a leading voice on the topics of design thinking, user experience, and lean research methodology. Tomer is Head of UX at WeWork based in New York City leading a team that designs work and living spaces, communities, and services around the world.

He is the author of the books, Validating Product Ideas (2016) and, It’s Our Research (2012).

Previously, Tomer was Sr. User Experience Researcher at Google, focusing on research for core search results for sports, TV & movies, weather, finance, music, books, and people. He has mentored organizations (large and small) on user research methodology, has given keynotes, and taught workshops in the USA, Canada, Chile, UK, France, Germany, Austria, Netherlands, Israel, Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, and Japan.

Tomer holds a master’s degree in Human Factors in Information Design from Bentley University in Waltham, MA.

Keynote “What UX Research maturity looks like” >>

If there’s a UX research maturity ladder, many organizations are extremely immature. They don’t learn form their customers through user research, they don’t hire researchers, yet they call themselves “data driven.” During this talk, Tomer will introduce a UX research maturity model that helps to uncover and understand maturity when it comes to truly learning from customers. Tomer will then introduce three practices of mature organizations:

  1. Making the experience visible
  2. Creating research systems
  3. Eliminating research teams

Tomer will discuss these principles using examples from the past work at Google and current practice at WeWork.
